2 People Slain, 1 Found Dead
A man was fatally stabbed in Northridge, another man was shot and killed in Granada Hills, and an unidentified body was found in the trunk of a car in San Fernando in unrelated cases, police said Wednesday.
Angry words between two roommates led to the fatal stabbing about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Northridge apartment, said LAPD Det. Mike Oppelt of the Devonshire Division.
George Meadors, 52, was being held in lieu of $1-million bail at the Van Nuys jail after he allegedly stabbed Daren Carter, 41, at an apartment that belonged to an acquaintance of the two men in the 8700 block of Canby Avenue in Northridge, Oppelt said.
Carter was pronounced dead a short time later at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Meadors fled shortly after the stabbing, but police found him at the apartment that he shared with Carter in the 15900 block of Victory Boulevard.
In a separate case about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, LAPD Devonshire Division detectives were called to investigate the killing of a 23-year-old man found at Balboa Boulevard and San Jose Street in Granada Hills, police said.
The man, identified as Jacob Misrachi, 23, had been shot once in the head near his apartment. Police said they had no suspects.
In another case, L.A. County Sheriff’s Department detectives were investigating whether the person whose body was found in the trunk of an abandoned car in a grocery store parking lot in San Fernando died as a result of foul play. The body was found about 7 a.m. Wednesday in the 2000 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, said Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Jauch.
