And Speaking of the Hitless Wonders ...

The old saying is that good pitching generally beats good hitting. However, good pitching can’t overcome no hitting.

Hey, Dodgers, maybe you could hire yourselves a hitting coach! But, if you do, make sure it’s somebody who understands hitting, and can communicate. Don’t hire some guy who was a free swinger and was known for being sullen and uncommunicative as a player.

Do that, and you’ll have a bunch of guys with uppercut swings who don’t work the count, who try to pull every outside pitch, and end up hitting into lots of double plays.

Some questions for Dan Evans and Jim Tracy:

1. With Hideo Nomo apparently unable to go five innings without a meltdown, shouldn’t you exile him to the bullpen and let the clearly motivated Omar Daal take his place in the rotation?

2. Now that Chan Ho Park is struggling in Texas, isn’t it about time to trade Chad Kreuter and his .125 batting average to the Rangers for a couple of halfway-decent prospects?

3. At this point, doesn’t it seem as though a Gary Sheffield bobblehead doll would give Shawn Green more “protection” in the lineup than Paul Lo Duca, Eric Karros and Brian Jordan put together?
