Grant Will Help Restore Bembridge House

Share

Long Beach Heritage has been awarded a $72,000 Getty Planning Grant from the J. Paul Getty Trust to preserve and restore the historic Bembridge House.

Built in 1906, the Bembridge House is a designated Long Beach Historic Landmark and is considered the most ornate Victorian residence in that city. The estate boasts extensive carved woodwork, stained and leaded glass and a tiled fireplace.

The grant money will go toward the development of a master plan to conserve the historic house, carriage house and aviary. Funds also will restore landscaping, improve access for the disabled and pay for seismic strengthening.
