Beulah Quo

Thank you for honoring actress Beulah Quo (obituary, Oct. 25). A fellow teacher who taught with my mother in the 1930s at Ginling Girls College in Nanking, China, “Aunty” Beulah was not only a tireless advocate of Asian Americans and their contributions to the entertainment industry for over half a century, she was an elegant and gracious woman who just happened to be a trailblazer in her field and an outstanding role model to so many of us. While The Times listed many of her achievements, just last month Beulah was recognized by the Chinese Historical Society of America as one of its eight women of honor at its Half of Heaven gala dinner. This beautiful woman, both inside and out, will be terribly missed in the Chinese and Chinese American communities nationwide.
