Explosions Reported Near U.S. Military Base
From Times Wire Reports
Two blasts were reported outside a U.S. military base near Tokyo, and a projectile launcher was found nearby, U.S. officials and Japanese police said.
Police suspected that it was an attack and that leftist radicals may have been involved, Japan’s Kyodo news agency said. No damage or injuries were reported.
In Washington, Maj. Timothy Blair, a Pentagon spokesman, said a blast was reported about 800 feet from the U.S. Army’s Camp Zama.
Two suspects reportedly were in police custody.
