Patrick Roy had 29 saves, including a solid third period in which his team was outshot, 14-2.

Colorado had a power play for the final minute of overtime after David Legwand went off for closing his hand on the puck, but the Avalanche couldn’t convert.

Roy, who allowed four goals in each of his previous five starts, decried his team’s poor play in the final 20 minutes of regulation time.

“For some reason, we don’t play well in the third,” he said.

Roy withstood Nashville’s onslaught in the third period, capped by stops on consecutive shots from close range by Vladimir Orszagh.

Blake scored 3:51 into the game. Milan Hejduk put two shots on goal, the second one from left of the goal into the crease, where Blake punched it in for his second goal of the season.

Boston 3, Carolina 1 -- Glen Murray scored his 200th and 201st career goals, and Brian Rolston added a short-handed goal as the Bruins won at Boston in front of the second-smallest FleetCenter crowd, 10,677. In the last three weeks, the Bruins have had their smallest and second-smallest crowds since their arena opened in 1995. Against the Ducks on Oct. 31, the Bruins drew 9,491.

San Jose 2, Philadelphia 2 -- Jeremy Roenick’s power-play goal with 7:29 left in regulation at Philadelphia lifted the Flyers into their fourth tie in five games. Before Roenick’s goal, Philadelphia hadn’t scored in 32 power-play opportunities, including its first four against the Sharks.

Minnesota 4, Washington 3 -- Pascal Dupuis had a goal and two assists as the Wild won at Washington. The Capitals failed to score on their power plays and are in a nine-for-78 slump. The Wild has killed 21 straight penalties.
