Krone Visits Arizona Today

Off to a good start in her comeback with four victories, Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone will be in Arizona today riding Reine de Romance, the probable favorite in the $50,000 Queen Of The Green at Turf Paradise at one mile on turf.

In Kentucky, Bien Nicole will try to extend her winning streak in the $150,000 Cardinal Handicap at 1 1/8 miles on the grass. The 4-year-old has rattled off five consecutive victories at different tracks.

Moving into graded stakes company for the first time, Bien Nicole will be looking for her first win at Churchill Downs, where she has been second in two previous tries.

The main event at Aqueduct is the $150,000 Red Smith Handicap, which is scheduled for 1 3/8 miles on the grass. But because of bad weather the race is likely to be run on the main track. If so, Evening Attire, winner of three of four at Aqueduct, is the one to beat.

Race of the day: The 11th at Calder, the $40,000 Amerilad at 1 1/16 miles on the turf, is the first leg of the Churchill Downs simulcast network pick three.

The other two races are the 10th from Churchill Downs and the fifth from Hollywood Park.

Who’s hot: Scott Schwartz. The trainer got off to a five-for-18 start at Aqueduct.

Who’s not: Adalberto Lopez and Macario Rodriguez. They are a combined 5 for 93 at Golden Gate Fields.

Exotically speaking: A pick four singling Roll Hennessy Roll in the seventh, using Delta Form, Cetewayo, Nazirali, Sligo Bay and Hannibal Lad in the eighth, Irish Nip, Komistar and Finder’s Gold in the ninth and singling Tioga Lake in the 10th.
