Thousands Camp Outside After Quake
Up to 15,000 people are sleeping outdoors in bitterly cold conditions in Pakistan’s mountainous northeast, as aftershocks have spread fear after a major earthquake that killed about two dozen people last week.
Residents fear their fragile houses may collapse, officials said. More than 100 aftershocks have rocked the mountainous region since Thursday’s temblor.
Army helicopters were delivering relief goods, but the terrain made the task dangerous. Authorities have provided 700 tents as well as blankets and warm clothes but 2,000 more tents are needed, officials said.
