Farmers Consider Creating School District

From Times Wire Reports

Some farmers are contemplating creating their own school district, because they don’t like the way Madera Unified is operated. They deny it’s because they don’t want to pay more taxes after a $46-million school bond was approved by voters Nov. 5.

Farmer Dennis Meisner said school officials have talked about redistricting for years, and denies growers are proposing to pull out of the district after voters approved Measure B.

Growers opposed the bond, saying it would unfairly tax landowners with large properties.
