2 Dogs Presumed Dead After Hillside Collapses

A cascade of dirt and mud came crashing down a hillside Friday, damaging a house on a winding suburban street and possibly burying two dogs, Los Angeles fire officials said.
The 25-by-25-foot patch of soil slid down the hill and into the backyard of a house in the 3500 block of Longridge Avenue just before 10 a.m., city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey said. The homeowners’ dogs were presumed to be under the rubble, although firefighters could not find their bodies.
The cause of the slide is under investigation.
