Police Arrest Man After Alleged Abduction
Police arrested a 29-year-old transient Monday for allegedly abducting a woman and her teenage cousin at knifepoint after stealing a cell phone and a knife.
Antonio Escobar allegedly opened a pack of knives in a supermarket Sunday night in the 4700 block of Venice Boulevard, took one and then jumped into a car driven by Elizabeth Martinez when she stopped at a red light, authorities said.
As the suspect held the knife to her cousin’s face, he told her where to drive, police said. However, she headed to a police station instead.
