Vick Is Listed as Doubtful Against Giants

Michael Vick’s sprained right shoulder hurt so much Monday that he struggled to get dressed.

“I can’t put socks on,” Vick said. “I really can’t do anything with it. It’s just that sore and it’s just that stiff. I feel like I’m handicapped right now.”

A day after leaving in the third quarter of Atlanta’s 20-6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Falcons’ quarterback agreed with Coach Dan Reeves’ decision to list him as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Giants at New York.

Vick fell on his nonthrowing shoulder when he was sacked by Simeon Rice. Vick underwent several treatments Monday, but still felt sore and stiff. X-rays were negative.

“We’re just going to take it day by day and see how it feels as the week goes on,” Vick said.

If Vick can’t play, the Falcons will start Doug Johnson. Johnson was 13 of 25 for 150 yards and three interceptions against Tampa Bay.

Seattle Seahawk linebacker Marcus Bell plans to appeal a $25,000 fine from the NFL for knocking down umpire Carl Madsen during a Sept. 29 game against the Minnesota Vikings. Bell said it was an accident.

Bell’s fine was the largest in the NFL this year. Denver’s Deltha O’Neal was fined $15,000 for bumping an official during a Sept. 30 game in Baltimore.

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed end Rob Meier to a three-year contract extension worth about $2.2 million.... Buffalo Bill tight end Dave Moore broke his left hand against the Oakland Raiders and is questionable for Sunday’s game at Houston.... Denver Bronco receiver Rod Smith separated his left shoulder against San Diego but isn’t expected to be sidelined.... Chicago Bear kick return specialist Vinny Sutherland pleaded no contest to hit-and-run and drunken driving charges. He faces 75 days of community service and jail time when he’s sentenced at a later date.... End Ron Warner, sidelined this season while serving a suspension from the NFL for an undisclosed reason, was released by Tampa Bay.
