Victory Is an Emotional One for Visscher

Share

Brisco Lamb’s maiden victory in Friday’s second race was significant for Patricia Visscher.

Visscher earned her first victory as a trainer when Brisco Lamb, who had been second in four of her first seven starts, finally got the job done.

Hans Visscher, her husband, died in March.

“We were married for 25 years and we worked together with the horses for a long time,” she said. “Life without him has been difficult and the adjustments have been hard.

“My husband taught me a lot of things about working with horses and I’m using that to help me now that I’m training. It’s great to win. It’s a very emotional feeling.”

Visscher also credits trainer Chris O’Dell and owner Mimi Wells with helping her transition.
