A nonprofit group of volunteers has announced that it will pay for the proposed renovation of the Lake Forest branch of the Orange County Public Library.

El Toro Friends of the Library said it would pick up the $120,000 tab for improving the 11,400-square-foot branch on Raymond Way. The face-lift will add more than 2,000 square feet to the building. It includes a new entry, new landscaping, upgraded restrooms and public computer workstations.

The library, which opened in 1981, has been closed since Oct. 1 to prepare for the project. Work is expected to begin next week and be completed early next year.
