No Contest
Re “Serbian Vote Invalidated by Low Turnout,” Oct. 14: If federal elections with less than 50% participation of eligible voters were invalid in the U.S., how many of the past elections would be valid? Frequently I hear the saying, “Why bother voting; my vote does not count in any case.” Maybe we should bring about change in the voting laws, requiring 50% participation of eligible voters. A case in point: Of the members of Congress to be elected in the coming election, only a few seats are contested. This sounds to me more like incumbency than democracy.
