Update--Ortiz has started two playoff games, taking a shutout into the sixth inning in the league championship series but giving up six runs in 2 2/3 innings during the division series. Ortiz will be working on 12 days’ rest. He is 11-3 with a 3.17 ERA on four days’ rest this season, 5-6 with a 5.28 ERA on longer rest. He never has faced the Giants. Hernandez pitched into the ninth inning of one playoff start and into the seventh of the other. In one career start against the Angels, he gave up 11 hits but only two earned runs in seven innings.
