the world’s biggest maker of graphic-design software, is dismissing about 260 employees, or 7.4% of its work force, after five quarters of sales declines. Shares of San Jose-based Adobe fell 2 cents to $24.64 on Nasdaq.

* Ben & Jerry’s said it would lay off 52 people at its South Burlington, Vt., headquarters in the ice cream maker’s second round of job cuts this year. The reduction amounted to about 6% of the company’s work force.

* K2 Inc. announced third-quarter results that it said reflected the third consecutive year-over-year quarterly increase in the company’s earnings per share. Net income rose to $3.9 million, contrasted with a loss of $10.7 million a year earlier.
