City Council Candidate Sues Over Cat Fight
City Council candidate Jim Harrison is suing a neighbor for allegedly posting defamatory fliers around their upscale neighborhood.
Neighbor Scott Kingham said he posted the fliers to warn pet owners that Harrison had set traps to catch trespassing cats. Kingham’s cat, Barney, died in a trap set by Harrison.
Harrison, a former California Highway Patrol officer, said he took to trapping cats because they made messes in his wife’s garden. Harrison, who is asking for $5,000, filed the suit alleging libel and “malicious persecution.”
