WORTH ANOTHER LOOK: It’s not that everything went exactly the way the Angels would have scripted it in the 2002 World Series. It’s that whatever happened, they found a way to overcome it. The Giants’ Barry Bonds, right photo, hit .471 and set a slugging percentage record of 1.294, but he wasn’t able to beat them by himself. In Game 6, San Francisco’s Kenny Lofton tangled with second baseman Adam Kennedy on a steal, bottom left photo, and ran the Angels into trouble, fueling a 5-0 lead in the seventh, but a memorable Anaheim comeback wiped that out in the last two innings. And in Game 7, when Giant pitcher Livan Hernandez made a mistake and hit Tim Salmon, bottom right, with a pitch to load the bases, the Angels turned it into a three-run third inning. All of which left every Angel, including reliever Ben Weber, center photo, to celebrate with long-suffering fans a championship that was 42 years in the making.
