Woman Jumps to Death From Freeway Overpass
A Santa Ana woman jumped to her death from a freeway overpass Friday night after removing her shoes and eyeglasses and setting them neatly aside, police said.
Catherine Suarez, 30, leaped from the McFadden Avenue overpass into the southbound lanes of the Costa Mesa Freeway, a Tustin police spokesman said. She was struck by a car, but authorities do not know if she was killed by the fall or the impact with the vehicle. Police said she was struck by a car driven by Daniel Torres, 28, of Newport Beach. Torres, who was not injured, stopped at the scene and was not charged.
