Sex Offenders Web Site Up, But Has Glitches
Los Angeles County posted its online map Friday showing where convicted sex offenders live, but technical difficulties made the Web site unavailable for about two hours in the afternoon.
The map, located at www.lacounty.info, shows the general location of more than 17,000 convicted sex offenders living in the county.
There were more hits than expected in the first day of operation, said Jonathan Williams of the Chief Information Office. Technicians were monitoring the number of viewers, but had not compiled that data by late Friday.
A note on the Web site warned residents of possible delays.
