Rock of Ages
I applaud actress Doris Roberts for speaking up for us “helpless, unproductive” seniors (“Ageism in the Media Is Seen as Harmful to Health of the Elderly,” Sept. 5). At 72, I still work part time, volunteer at a hospital weekly, take classes at Valley College twice a week, read two newspapers a day and keep up with as much theater as I can. I travel to New York twice a year and just returned from Chicago, where I caught up with the Steppenwolf Theatre.
Heck, I even had a new 82-year-old boyfriend. So don’t tell us seniors we are helpless and irrelevant. We’re still active, sexual and swinging.
