Woman Killed After Her Disabled Car Is Slammed
A woman was killed Sunday morning after her disabled vehicle was struck by a driver on the San Diego Freeway in Seal Beach, police said.
The woman had stopped her Chevrolet Lumina either in the right lane or the right shoulder north of the 7th Street exit when her car was struck at 6:50 a.m. and burst into flames, according to a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
The woman’s identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.
Her car was hit by a BMW traveling about 90 mph, according to the CHP. The two occupants remain hospitalized at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Police did not release their identities.
Police believe alcohol played a role in the incident, which is under investigation. As of Sunday evening, no charges had been filed, according to the CHP.
