Ventura police were searching Sunday for a gunman who carjacked a grocery store employee as he was leaving work but later released him unharmed.
The employee was walking to his car in a Vons parking lot in the 2400 block of Harbor Boulevard shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday. He was approached by a man carrying a chrome handgun, who ordered the victim into his car and drove off.
The gunman ordered the employee out of the car near the intersection of Spinnaker Drive and Harbor Boulevard.
The carjacker was last seen in the victim’s blue Chevy El Camino, California license number 3E14997, heading east on Olivas Park Drive, officials said.
