Man Held in Robbery of Customer at Gas Station
Police arrested a 36-year-old Ventura man on suspicion of robbery after he allegedly punched a man paying for gas at a service station and took his money. George Mami was arrested about an hour after the incident, which occurred about 4 p.m. Tuesday at a Union 76 station at Telephone Road and Victoria Avenue, Ventura Police Lt. Skip Young said.
Young said Ryan Hitchcock, 21, was assaulted and robbed of $100 by a man who fled in a motor home. Hitchcock told police that he and a friend followed the suspect to a residence in Camarillo before returning to Ventura to notify police. Mami was taken into custody a short time later near the gas station, Young said.
