Symphony Names New Executive Director

Kenneth Hopper has been named executive director of the New West Symphony, a 72-member professional orchestra based in Thousand Oaks.

Hopper, 58, will oversee New West’s staff of three full-time and eight part-time employees and a budget of $1.8 million.

Hopper comes to the symphony from the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C., where he was executive director.

He holds doctorate and master’s degrees in piano music from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in piano music from Oklahoma City University.

Hopper served as executive director of the Des Moines Symphony from 1993 to 1999.
