‘Men at Work’ Shouldn’t Have Been Ignored

Julius Schulman, noted architectural photographer, and Gil Garcetti, soon-to-be recognized photographer, fail to mention the seminal photographic essay on steelworkers and book, “Men at Work,” by master photographer Lewis Hine (“From Ground Up, a Chronicle of Sweat, Steel,” Sept. 20). This groundbreaking documentation by Hine, of the construction of the Empire State Building, first published in 1932 by the Macmillan Co., certainly supersedes Garcetti’s coverage of Disney Hall.
