A Big Night for Bondra

Peter Bondra became the Washington Capitals’ career scoring leader, getting two goals in the third period to help beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-3, Saturday night at Washington. He scored first and last in a four-goal rally from a 3-1 deficit.
Bondra has 790 points (451 goals, 339 assists) since making his NHL debut in Washington in 1990-91. He passed Mike Gartner, who had 397 goals and 392 assists for 789 points from 1979 to ’89.
Ottawa 3, Toronto 1 -- The Senators finished the best regular season in franchise history at Toronto. They are the first Canadian team in 14 years to have the NHL’s best record (52-21-8-1).
Boston 8, Buffalo 5 -- The eight goals at Boston matched the Bruins’ output for their previous five games, when they went 0-2-3.
Atlanta 3, New York Islanders 2 -- Rookie defenseman Joe DiPenta had a goal and an assist for his first NHL points and Dany Heatley added his 39th goal to lead the Thrashers at Uniondale, N.Y.
Montreal 5, New York Rangers 4 -- Stephane Quintal scored with 2:14 left in the third period to give the Canadiens the win at Montreal.
Calgary 4, Edmonton 1 -- Craig Conroy scored twice and Dave Lowry had three assists to lead the Flames at Edmonton.
