Preempting Free Speech

Re “Justices Limit Cross Burners’ Claim to Free Speech,” April 8: Though I do not agree with the aims of those who burn crosses, I am very troubled by a Supreme Court that is willing to ban political expression, however repulsive, because it could be seen as potentially intimidating. It seems as if the Bush doctrine of preemption has finally reached the judicial system.
