Crys Quimby, news and program director at KFWB-AM (980), is leaving the station to move to New York.

“It’s a personal move that has been under consideration and contemplation for years,” said Quimby, who has been the station’s news director since October 1996 and who added program director duties in November 2000. “As much as I love KFWB and all the people here, I’m ready for a change.”

Station general manager Roger Nadel will assume her duties once Quimby departs. She said she plans to leave next week but wouldn’t disclose what her next step will be, saying only, “I have some irons in the fire.

“I love L.A., I love the station, and I love the company,” she said. “The bottom line is, there’s opportunity there, there’s family there.”
