The San Fernando Valley Fair has a new location, and with it a new name.

Re-christened as the Valley Fair, the event will be held June 5-8 at Castaic Lake, said Bob Carlson, the fair’s marketing director.

“It’s been renamed because it will draw from two valleys -- San Fernando and Santa Clarita,” Carlson said. “It’s going to be beautiful up at Castaic Lake. We’re very excited.”

The annual fair, which in years past had homes in Burbank, Hansen Dam and Devonshire Downs, will again offer a wide range of attractions and events: carnival rides, livestock contests and auctions, craft sales, a petting zoo, pony rides, pig races, horticultural exhibits and musical entertainment.

“We are a very typical county-country type of fair,” Carlson said.

The fair is relocating mainly because renovations at Hansen Dam left inadequate parking for the fair, according to Carlson.

“The space is just not as user-friendly as it once was. And we’re also filling a need in the Santa Clarita Valley, which doesn’t have a seasonal fair,” he said.
