A bus full of schoolchildren plunged 300 feet into a gorge in northern Greece, killing 23 people and injuring 30, police said.
A police spokesman said nearly all the dead were students. The accident occurred when logs fell off a truck on a narrow mountain road in the Tembi Valley, 220 miles north of Athens.
The logs smashed into the top of the bus, which was traveling in the opposite direction, and caused two cars following the truck to crash into it and burst into flames. Police arrested the truck’s driver.
