From Times Staff Reports
A deputy who stopped a driver Friday discovered a bag of methamphetamine in the car -- and a deadly baby rattlesnake.
The baggy, and the snake, were in a detachable car stereo case on the seat.
“I opened it up and the snake looked right at me,” said Deputy Frank Jinright. “I slammed the case shut as fast as I could.”
Investigators say they are trying to determine the man’s identity, because he has given police more than one name.
The deputy had run his license plate after the traffic stop and discovered that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
