ANGELS

Opponent: Cleveland Indians

Series: Tuesday, 4 p.m.; Wednesday, 4 p.m.; Thursday, 4 p.m. (all times Pacific).

Site: Jacobs Field, Cleveland.

Matchup: No longer are the Indians the team they were in the ‘90s, and no longer is Jacobs Field the place to be in Cleveland. The Indians once sold out 455 consecutive games, but more seats will be empty than occupied for this series. Shortstop Omar Vizquel is the remaining link to the glory days of the 1995 and 1997 World Series teams. And, filling the middle of the lineup -- really -- is outfielder Karim Garcia, the once-hyped, long-ago Dodger prospect who is still only 28.

Opponent: Toronto Blue Jays

Series: Friday, 4 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. (all times Pacific)

Site: SkyDome, Toronto.

Matchup: The Blue Jays have skidded to the rear of the American League East, in part because of a horrifying imbalance in baserunning. Through Thursday, the Jays had stolen four bases in 10 tries while opponents had stolen 21 bases in 24 tries. Not sure whether this is good managing or over-managing by Carlos Tosca, but the Toronto manager used five relievers to get the final nine outs Thursday against the dreaded Devil Rays.
