A bicyclist died Thursday in Anaheim after he swerved into traffic to avoid one car and was hit by a pickup, police said.

Juan de Jesus, 58, of Stanton, was riding his bicycle north on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Beach Boulevard about 1 p.m., police said, when a car pulled out of a driveway in front of him. Trying to avoid a collision, Jesus swerved into the street, where he was hit by 2001 red Dodge Ram pickup traveling in the opposite direction, said Sgt. James Kazakos, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.

De Jesus was taken to Memorial Hospital West in Anaheim, where he died of his injuries.

“No arrests have been made, nor has fault been established,” Kazakos said. “The investigation is continuing.”
