Man Shot by Police Near Elysian Park
In the third such incident this week, Los Angeles police officers Thursday night shot and gravely wounded a wanted suspect, this time in a residential area north of Elysian Park.
The shooting occurred at 6:46 p.m. near Ripple and Queen streets. Gang detail officers began taking the man into custody when he broke free, drew a weapon and began firing at the officers, a Police Department spokesman said. The officers fired back and wounded the man. He was listed in critical condition at an area hospital.
