Emergency Workers Stage Terrorism Exercise
More than 500 Los Angeles emergency personnel staged a mock terrorism exercise overnight at a Northridge shopping mall.
“Operation Dark Cloud,” designed to prepare emergency response teams for a hazardous materials act of terror, began at 9 p.m. and was scheduled to run through 3 a.m. at the Northridge Fashion Center.
“This training is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents,” Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn said. “These simulations provide our first responders with an important opportunity to practice skills.”
