Statistics Division Joins UCI Information School

UC Irvine’s Department of Statistics has formally joined the School of Information and Computer Science, the university announced Tuesday.
Students in the statistics division, founded in July 2002, will benefit from increased interaction with the school, officials said.
“Statistics is critical to many fields of information and computer science, and I foresee great synergy,” said Debra J. Richardson, the school’s interim dean. “Modern statistics is no longer simply a mathematical discipline, but rather is inherently interdisciplinary.”
