2 People Die in Separate Kings River Drownings

Two people have drowned in the Kings River in separate incidents about nine miles apart, King County authorities said.
Manuel Martinez of Hanford was swimming with friends at Laton-Kingston Park when he went under just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
An unidentified 45-year-old woman drowned after trying to help a 9-year-old boy about the same time, said sheriff’s Cmdr. Jack Amoroso. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Hanford Community Hospital.
