A teacher has been removed from her classroom after the mother of one of her students accused her of breaking the boy’s arm.

Iris Lenstad, a teacher at West Port Middle School, allegedly broke Stephen Hand’s left arm in class on Thursday, said the boy’s mother, Murieal Robinson.

According to police, Lenstad grabbed the 12-year-old by the arm and took him to a restroom, which also serves as the classroom’s “time-out” area.

The boy reportedly became agitated and kicked a trash can into Lenstad’s leg, Ocala police said.

Lenstad twisted the boy’s arm behind his back and pushed him into a wall, breaking the arm, police said.

Jim Noell, the school district’s personnel director, said the incident was under investigation.

Robinson said that she does not condone her son’s behavior, but that the teacher went too far.

“I do not want to sue the school. I do not want to sue this lady,” Robinson said. “I just want her removed so she does not do this to another child.”
