Storm Drain Upgrades to Cause Street Closures
Construction to improve a major storm drain will close parts of Irvine Boulevard and Newport Avenue for as long as a month starting Aug. 18.
The first phase of the work will occur on Newport Avenue between Holt Avenue and Irvine Boulevard. It will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction for one to two weeks.
Construction along Irvine Boulevard between Holt and the El Modena-Irvine Channel east of Newport Avenue will require all eastbound lanes to be closed during the day for about a month.
One lane will remain open in the evening.
The work will be done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
An open house to provide information will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Center Board Room, 200 C St.
