Her dander’s up

Why do I get the impression from his story that Jake Klein (“It’s Time to Clear the Air -- and the Dust Bunnies,” July 31) is not an animal lover?

Animals flourish when they are treated as part of the family. They should no more be “kept outside” or gotten rid of than any other member of that family.

How about recommending medication to reduce pet allergies? Or better still, telling readers not to get a pet in the first place if they think they may be allergic to it and have to give it up.

Los Angeles Animal Services is already in crisis, thanks to budget cuts. It can’t cope with the thousands of strays roaming our streets, and with unwanted pets callously turned in by people who consider them surplus.
