A 16-year-old Buena High School student died after being injured last week in a crash that also claimed the life of his mother.
Kyle Winiarz was pronounced dead Friday afternoon at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, county coroner’s officials said Sunday.
His mother, Sandra Miles, 44, of Ventura lost control of her minivan Thursday afternoon on northbound U.S. 101, near Main Street in Ventura. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a tree and burst into flames.
Kyle pulled himself from the wreckage. The youth, who would have been a senior, played volleyball for the Buena Bulldogs.
