SureBeam Fires Deloitte & Touche

SureBeam Corp., known for making systems that zap bacteria in food, is now getting a reputation for zapping accountants.

The company said it fired Deloitte & Touche -- its third dismissal of an accounting firm in little over a year. It showed Deloitte the door after the accounting firm raised concerns over how SureBeam booked revenue from certain contracts starting in 2000.

Shares of SureBeam, based in San Diego, fell nearly 14% in morning trading before closing up less than 1%, or 1 cent, at $1.81 on Nasdaq.
