The $1-million Pacific Classic isn’t the only Grade I race on the program today at Del Mar.

Eight 3-year-old fillies will get together in the $300,000 Del Mar Oaks at 1 1/8 miles on the turf.

Owned by John Cuchna, Jim Ford and Deron Pearson and trained by Jim Cassidy, Katdogawn will try to become the first filly since Sicy D’alsace in 1998 to win the San Clemente and Del Mar Oaks.

Reunited with jockey Julie Krone for the first time since her U.S. debut Feb. 28 at Santa Anita, the English-bred Katdogawn won the one-mile San Clemente by two lengths.

It was the third win in her last four starts and she’ll be trying nine furlongs for the second in the Oaks. On April 13 at Santa Anita, she finished sixth in a race won by her stablemate Star Vega.

Race of the day: Sky Jack, whose biggest win came in the 2002 Hollywood Gold Cup, is one of 10 older horses scheduled to participate in today’s $250,000 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs. Russell Baze will be in Auburn, Wash., to ride Sky Jack for trainer Doug O’Neill. The Grade III also attracted Total Limit, Handy N Bold, Lord Nelson, Sabertooth, Alfurune, Salt Grinder, Poker Brad, Moonlight Meeting and Gondolieri.

One for the road: Catchy Word debuts for trainer Chuck Simon in today’s seventh at Saratoga after being claimed for $50,000 out of a clever win at Churchill Downs on June 29. The 6-year-old is brought back in a spot where he can’t be claimed in the $50,000 starter handicap at 1 1/2 miles on the turf and Simon has a good record first after the claim.

Exotically speaking: Daily doubles keying Irish Nip and Stratton in the third to Smilin Susan and Ganedyl in the fourth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/64. Money: Previous day/meet total: $19.20/$370.40. Total money bet: $476.
