Jackson’s 45th is putting him in a partying mood

Michael Jackson will open Neverland to the public for one day next month. The invitation-only open day, set for Sept. 13, will include dinner, access to the amusement park and zoo, as well as a magic show and goody bags.

Tickets for two people cost $5,000, with $1,000 from each sale being divided among three charities. The rest will be used to pay for the party, said Jackson’s spokesman, Stuart Backerman, calling the event, “a heartfelt expression” by Jackson.

A less pricey celebration will take place Saturday -- on Jackson’s 45th birthday. Fans have organized a $30 celebration at the Orpheum Theatre, and Backerman said Jackson would attend the birthday party. There will be no Ferris wheels at the downtown theater, but organizers promise a chance to win one of Michael’s fedoras.
