From Times Wire Reports

British detectives launched a fresh investigation into the slaying of an officer in a 1985 riot in Tottenham, north London. Officer Keith Blakelock was stabbed and hacked to death during the unrest in which about 500 youths attacked police, looted and set fires.

Winston Silcott was convicted of murder but later cleared and awarded more than $100,000 in compensation. Silcott is black, and police have long been accused of racism in the case.
