No. 2 Texas Overpowers Texas State, 88-27

No. 2-ranked Texas routed Texas State, 88-27, on Wednesday, setting a school record by holding the Bobcats to nine points in the second half.

Texas (7-0) has won its last five games by an average of 40.4 points. Stacy Stephens scored 19 points for the Longhorns and Tiffany Jackson had 18.

Ally Kelly scored eight points to lead Texas State (0-5), which made only three shots in the second half.

No. 7 Purdue 68, Valparaiso 57 -- The Boilermakers (5-0) outrebounded the Crusaders, 25-19, in the second half and finished with a season-high 43 at Valparaiso, Ind.

Valparaiso (2-4) shot 37.3% in losing to the team that knocked it out of the NCAA tournament last season in the first round.

No. 8 Penn State 82, Maryland 65 -- The Nittany Lions pulled away in the second half at College Park, Md.

Penn State (4-1) never trailed against the smaller, younger Terrapins (4-1).

No. 11 Georgia 65, Houston 52 -- Kara Braxton had 22 points and 12 rebounds for host Georgia. Alexis Kendrick had 10 points for Georgia (4-1), and Christi Thomas grabbed 13 rebounds. Chandi Jones scored 20 points for Houston (5-1) but was six for 19 from the field.

No. 13 North Carolina 101, Tennessee Martin 63 -- Candace Sutton scored 19 points and La’Tangela Atkinson had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Tar Heels (5-0 ) at Chapel Hill, N.C. The Skyhawks (1-2) committed 23 turnovers and shot 34% from the field.

No. 16 Oklahoma 85, Southern Methodist 63 -- Caton Hill had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Sooners (5-0) at Dallas. Oklahoma avenged a 71-68 loss to the Mustangs last season that ended a 24-game home winning streak. Kim Walter led the Mustangs (1-3) with 13 points.

No. 17 Colorado 81, Colorado State 74 -- Tera Bjorklund scored 28 points and Kate Fagan had 16 to lead Colorado at Fort Collins, Colo.

Randie Wirt had 14 points and six assists for Colorado (6-1). Joy Jenkins and Lindsay Thomas each had 17 points for Colorado State (3-2), which shot 59% in the first half and led, 40-39, at the break.

No. 23 Virginia Tech 79, Old Dominion 72 -- Dawn Chriss had a career-high 21 points for the Hokies (5-0) at Blacksburg, Va.

Shareese Grant led Old Dominion (3-3) with 21 points.

Monique Coker scored 18 points and Lawona Davis had 14.
