Share

Liebau, an impressive winner in his debut, will be favored to remain unbeaten in tonight’s $19,000 Star of Stars Futurity.

A 2-year-old Appaloosa owned and bred by Ed Allred and trained by Kelly Lewis, the son of thoroughbred sire Fabulous Champ was 8-5 when he made his first start on Nov. 7.

Breaking from the inside post under jockey Alex Bautista, the California-bred quickly took the lead, then extended the margin en route to a 3 1/2-length victory. He completed the 4 1/2 furlongs, the distance of tonight’s race, in 52.67 seconds.
