If everyone around you is a couch ornament, this site offers a way to link up with like-minded adventurers for hiking, climbing, kayaking and diving in Southern California. The message board boasts 8,652 topics, so chances are that if you’re into the outdoors, there’s something here for you.
The site’s calendar listings detail a diverse range of activities. This month’s offerings include a backpacking trip to Joshua Tree, a GPS clinic and a night hike in the Grand Canyon on Christmas Eve. You can latch onto scheduled trips or concoct your own.
Want to put together a kayak trip to the Kern River? Log into the calendar and post the info. Members receive an e-mail about the activity and, as they sign up, get notified. From there, you’re leading your group on the high, or low, road to adventure. When you return, there’s a page to set up your own photo album to document the event for posterity.
